In 2021, the retail sales of home building materials will reach 363.4 billion yuan, and the overall market performance will reach a new high.


On January 17, the National Bureau of Statistics released the main data on the total retail sales of consumer goods in 2021. In 2021, the total retail sales of consumer goods will be 44,082.3 billion yuan, an increase of 12.5% over the previous year, and the average growth rate for the two years is 3.9%.


Among them, the retail sales of furniture consumer goods was 166.7 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 14.5%; the retail sales of construction and decoration materials consumer goods was 196.7 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 20.4%. In 2021, the retail sales of home building materials will be about 363.4 billion yuan, a new high compared with previous years.


Compared with the national retail sales of furniture, construction and decoration materials in 2020, which decreased by 7% and 2.8% year-on-year, the market performance of the furniture industry in 2021 exceeded expectations.


Not only that, the information jointly released by the Circulation Industry Development Department of the Ministry of Commerce and the China Building Materials Circulation Association shows that the cumulative sales of building materials and home furnishing stores above designated size reached 1,177.392 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 54.43%; 12 building materials and home furnishing stores above designated size nationwide. Monthly sales were 119.524 billion yuan, down 6.89% month-on-month and up 39.93% year-on-year.


The Industry Research Department of China Building Materials Circulation Association believes that in recent years, under the policy environment of "housing and not speculating", the growth rate of my country's real estate market has slowed down, which will inevitably have a structural impact on the building materials and home furnishing industry. The recovery of the home furnishing market is inseparable from the recovery of the macro economy and the release of market demand.


In terms of macroeconomics, according to data from the National Bureau of Statistics, in 2021, my country's GDP will increase by 8.1% over the previous year, and the economic growth rate will be among the best in the world's major economies; the total retail sales of social consumer goods will be 44.1 trillion yuan, an increase over the previous year. 12.5%, an increase of 8% over 2019.

Second, with the long-term existence of the epidemic, people pay more attention to the improvement of their living environment, and put forward higher requirements for the green environmental protection, living experience, use function, and visual aesthetics of home space.


In addition, according to research and statistics, compared with 2020, the unit price of building materials and home furnishing stores has increased by 37.18%, which shows that the consumer demand for building materials and home furnishing products with consumption upgrades has begun to emerge.


The Industry Research Department of China Building Materials Circulation Association also pointed out that in the second half of 2021, the BHI index was running at a high level, while the national housing climate index was relatively flat, which shows that the huge market space for the refurbishment of stock properties is gradually being tapped. And unlike the delivery of hardcover rooms, the demand for stock rooms must be more personalized and diversified, which is also a consumption upgrade.
