Steps to replace aluminum alloy door and window glass

info-1-1

The door and window glass are fragile. Whether it is the mischief of a naughty child or the heavy blow to the glass inadvertently in life, it may cause the glass to break. So how to replace the new glass after the door and window glass is broken? Let's take a look.

How to replace aluminum alloy door and window glass?

First, remove the aluminum alloy window sash from the window, then lay the window flat on the ground, and remove the rubber strips on both sides of the glass edge with tools, and you can replace the glass. When replacing, try to use even force, don't force it, so as not to hurt yourself.

The replacement of the rubber strip seal is very convenient. The order is to remove the glass pressure line (buckle), replace the glass, install the glass pressure line, and install the glass rubber strip. If it is glued, it will be more troublesome. The order is still above, but it is more troublesome to operate, and the glue requires skills. If it is not applied well, it will leak, not to mention that it is ugly. One point to emphasize is that the glass looks small, but it is actually cumbersome. It is recommended to find an experienced person to replace large pieces of glass or high-rise glass, and safety is the first priority.

Aluminum alloy door and window glass replacement steps

Step 1: Take good protection during operation, wear goggles, and remove the broken glass window first. To make it easier to remove the glass, first use masking tape to create a cross on both sides, knock on the glass, shake the glass, remove the broken glass, and the remaining glass can be knocked off directly.

Step 2: Remove the remaining debris and old putty on the window frame, and find the fasteners that fix the glass, that is, the metal latch, and be careful not to scratch the window frame.

Step 3: Measure the size and prepare the new glass. Usually, the glass should be smaller than the window size to leave space for thermal expansion and contraction. Pins or spring clips should be purchased enough for glass inlay.

Step 4: Glass putty is used to install the glass. The putty is first made into a long strip, such the size of a pencil, and then starts from the corner of the window until the window frame is covered, and the new glass is put in. Press the glass hard to squeeze out the bubbles and let the putty overflow. Finally, fix the glass with glass inlay pins or spring clips, with a spacing of about 15cm. Generally, the pins are pressed into the wooden frame, while the spring clips are buckled into the holes in the metal frame.

Step 5: Glass putty is used to seal the outer edge of the window glass. Use another glass putty to press the joint between the glass and the window, then polish the putty smoothly. The grinding distance should be long and the action should be steady, so the final window surface is flat.

Step 6: Remove the excess glass putty and dry it for about 3 days.

Step 7: After drying, you can paint the window frame and putty to make it match the overall design and make the window completely sealed. When cleaning the glass, make sure the paint is completely dry.
